The 25-year-old has agreed a deal to join Champions Cup finalists Racing 92 in the summer, where he will replace All Blacks legend Dan Carter.
He will feature in his last home game for Warriors tomorrow, wearing the number 10 jersey for Dave Rennie's side.Russell will be partnered by scrum-half George Horne, while Sam Johnson and Nick Grigg line up in midfield and Tommy Seymour, DTH van der Merwe and Stuart Hogg make up the back three.
Lock Jonny Gray has returned to fitness to start alongside Tim Swinson in the second-row, with Jamie Bhatti, Fraser Brown and Zander Fagerson in the front row.
Captain Ryan Wilson starts at number eight between flankers Matt Fagerson and Callum Gibbins.
An experienced bench features the likes of Ruaridh Jackson, Peter Horne, Henry Pyrgos, Rob Harley and Chris Fusaro.
Scotstoun has been expanded to a 10,000 capacity for the game, with the winner earning a spot in the final in Dublin against either Leinster or Munster.Rennie said: "At the start of the season our goal was to be playing finals footy at home in front of our family and friends and we’re excited to be running out in front of a 10,000 strong Scotstoun tomorrow night.
"We’ve prepared well and it’s great to be able to bring back Jonny (Gray), Sam (Johnson) Pete (Horne)and Tommy (Seymour) who were late withdrawals ahead of our last game."
"Scarlets are a quality side, they’re reigning Champions for a reason and we’re looking forward to the challenge on what is will be a special night for our players and supporters."Glasgow welcome back Scotland trio Tommy Seymour, Jonny Gray and Jamie Bhatti, plus centre Sam Johnson, for Friday's Pro14 semi-final at Scotstoun.
Lee Jones, Alex Dunbar and Scott Cummings drop out, with Alex Allan on the bench, where Peter Horne returns.
Johnny McNicholl returns at full-back for Scarlets having not played since February, with Leigh Halfpenny injured.
Aaron Shingler comes into the back row, with Tadhg Beirne switching to lock and Lewis Rawlins dropping to the bench.
Wales and British and Irish Lions star Halfpenny limped out early in Scarlets' 43-8 play-off quarter-final win over Cheetahs with a hamstring tear, although coach Wayne Pivac is hopeful the 29-year-old could be fit for the final - if they overcome Glasgow.
New Zealander McNicholl has recovered from a shoulder injury that had been expected to rule him out for the rest of this season, but has recovered in time for Scarlets' finale.
The Welsh outfit are hoping to reach the final - against either Leinster or Munster - for a second successive year, having thrashed Munster to win the title 12 months ago.
Glasgow, who have won all 10 of their home matches in the Pro14 this season, but have lost three of their last four games, have extended the usual Scotstoun capacity to 10,000 with additional temporary seating.
"At the start of the season our goal was to be playing finals footy at home in front of our family and friends, and we're excited to be running out in front of a 10,000 strong Scotstoun tomorrow night," said head coach Dave Rennie.Friday's clash gives Warriors the opportunity to redeem themselves after losing 26-8 to Scarlets last month.
And Rennie insists his team are well aware of the threat posed.
"We've got a lot of respect for them, they're a quality side, defending champions," said Rennie.
"They've had a great season and a good performance in Europe so we're well aware of that, but we have a good side as well.
"We've prepared really well and we want to get out and show that on the weekend".
Warriors have lost their last two games, to Ulster and Edinburgh Rugby, and Rennie believes that his team must show more if they are to take victory over Scarlets.
"We haven't dwelled on what's happened there," he said.
"What we know is we have to be pretty desperate this week because there is no tomorrow I guess. From a Pro14 point of view, we qualified for the play-offs with about six or seven games to go and now top spot with another couple to go.
"It's no excuse. We had opportunities in both of those games and we weren't clinical enough so we know we need a harder reach against a really good Scarlets side."
